Elaborating on other initiatives, the DSWO said that under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojna (PMGKY), a special assistance program, all beneficiaries of the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Scheme (IGNOAS) received one-time additional assistance from Rs. 1000 in two equal installments for the months of April and May 2020 via DBT mode.

Likewise, the department under the PMGKY directly disbursed Rs 192,000, each crediting Rs 1,000 on the individual accounts of beneficiaries registered under the IGNWPS and IGNDPS regimes. In addition, Rs 2 lakh was released and credited to the accounts of 10 poor and needy widows under DBT mode registered under the NFBS. Dr Farhana Asgar pointed out that the Budgam Social Protection Department is committed to the socio-economic improvement of vulnerable segments of society, especially during the Covid-19 epidemic and that the department has taken responsibility to make the process practical and to ensure that all beneficiaries registered with the department receive timely monetary assistance. She said the department was able to provide assistance to 300 cases and sanction 46 new cases under the State Marriage Assistance Program (SMAS), bringing the number to 346.
