Katsina Govt inaugurates social protection committee to meet the needs of families affected by bandits – Channels Television
The Katsina State government has inaugurated an Executive Council Committee for the Improvement of the Welfare of Orphans and Widows Left Behind by Victims of Banditry in the State’s 11 frontline LGAs.
Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu and chairman of the committee revealed on Tuesday, noting that the executive council had, at its 6th regular meeting, noted with concern the impact of bandit activities on social well-being. economic impact of those affected. communities, especially orphans and widows.
As a result, he said the council had formed the committee under his chairmanship to advise the government on how to improve the lives of those affected.
Other terms of reference of the committee include identifying orphans and widows in affected LGAs and suggesting the type of assistance to be provided to victims by the government.
The rest includes determining the source of funding for the project and co-opting any other person likely to help carry out the committee’s mission.
The composition of the committee includes the commissioners for budget and planning, local government and chiefdom affairs, special tasks and women’s affairs.
The other members are the special advisers for community development, higher education, economic empowerment and social intervention, as well as political issues, among others.
The committee immediately took action after its inauguration.
