Senior Secretary of Department of Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare Reviews Operation of IIKSTC Dussoo, Pampore – India Education | Latest Education News | Global education news
PULWAMA: Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary, Department of Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare, today reviewed the operation of the Indian Kashmir International Saffron Trade Center (IIKSTC) Dussoo Pampore.
The Principal Secretary visited different sections of the center where he was briefed by the Kashmir Director of Agriculture on the functioning of the center.
While interacting with the relevant officers, the Principal Secretary stressed the importance of the IIKSTC saying that the government is committed to promoting the saffron sector of the valley on a global platform. He asked the agents to ensure that all efforts are put in place so that the center can play a key role in the revival and development of the saffron sector.
The Principal Secretary was informed that the IIKSTC online auction facility offers saffron producers access to a multiple marketing platform where producers can get maximum income for their products.
Earlier, the Director of Agriculture of Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, made a detailed presentation of the various activities and future plans regarding the promotion and development of the saffron sector in the valley.
Co-Director, Agricultural Inputs, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Co-Director of Agricultural Extension, Shahid Iqbal Sheikh, Co-Director of Farms, Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director of Planning, Mr. Younis Chowdhary, Potato Development Officer in Kashmir, Waheed-ur-Rehman in addition to the senior officials of the department and the technical staff of the IIKSTC were also present on the occasion.
