The Department of Social Protection organizes “Poshan-Panchayat”
On Tuesday, September 21, the Ministry of Welfare hosted a block-level Poshan Panchayat program in the Women’s Welfare Conference Hall.
The program was initiated by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Jalukie Development Project, in preparation for the “Poshan Maah” observed during the month of September.
This project aims to spread awareness about health and nutrition.
While addressing residents, Deputy Commissioner Jalukie Extra (EAC) Wangan Phom spoke about the role of the Panchayat and various Poshan programs launched by the central government.
He encouraged local leaders to disseminate health and nutrition awareness at the bloc level.
Meanwhile, the EAC reiterated the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine, the only weapon to fight the virus.
Jalukie Child Development Project Manager (CDPO) Namhuheing said about “Jan Andolan-People’s Movement” during his speech.
He encouraged council members and village chiefs to participate and raise awareness about health and nutrition.
The CDPO further underlined the role of the Panchayat for the successful implementation of the aforementioned activities.
Kalivi Zhimomi, Supervisor Jalukie also spoke about the care of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM).
She affirmed the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feedings.
The supervisor added that early identification of SAM is important to initiate treatment and minimize the risk of complications.
